NOTES ON AWAKENING TO THE TAO – 2

3rd Aug, 2024 by Nigam Overington

Most of us have studied together the Tao te Ching, purportedly written by Lao Tzu, which is one of the core Taoist texts, now today I want to Introduce you to Chuang Tzu (also known as Zhuangzi)  purportedly written by Chuang-Tzu, (369—298 BCE) which is another core Taoist sacred texts. The Zhuangzi consists of anecdotes, allegories, parables, and fables that are often humorous or irreverent in nature.

I love Chuang Tsu. He was a rare and most unique sage. His stories, his poems and his  statements are so crazy, so absurd that If you had met him and listened to him you would either have soon left him saying this guy is mad!

Or maybe, if you began to feel an inkling of what he was saying beneath all his nonsensical words, and you were a sincere seeker of the …

TODAY IS GURU PURNIMA – 21st July

22nd Jul, 2024 by Nigam Overington

Traditionally this is the Day to Honour and be thankful to The Guru.
When I first met BABA (Swami Purnanand Bharti) in Australia, in the early 1990’s it was an immediate Love Affair! At that time I could not understand his English, but spending time with him, walking together or just sitting silently together, ignited a wild fire within me, and within three months I was following him to India! I was blessed by his Unconditional Love.

At the time I had no idea what was happening but over the years sitting silently with Baba for many hours, something began to dawn on me, a deeper understanding – that the True Guru was the Innermost part of me! The True Guru was that Pure Consciousness shining within me. When i started trusting the Guru within me, my fears, phobias and …

AWAKENING TO THE TAO

17th Jul, 2024 by Dinishika

What is the meaning of Tao?

The Tao alludes to so much, it alludes to the eternal. The Tao is alluded to be responsible for creation and supporting the functioning of the Universe and it was also present prior to creation.

In this sense The Way is quite an insufficient translation, so really it is best to call it Tao!

What will happen as you study and meditate over the Tao and its holy scriptures – an intuitive understanding of the Tao will arise within you and you will come to the realisation that all words that describe The Tao are totally inadequate.
The Tao Te Ching begins with this very problem of describing the meaning of the word Tao.

The tao that can be told

is not the eternal Tao

The name that can be named

is not …

Quote from Autobiography of a Yogi – Paramahansa Yogananda

14th May, 2024 by Nigam Overington

When Paramahansa Yogananda met Anandamayi Ma and asked her about her life, she answered:

“Father, there is little to tell.” She spread her graceful hands in a deprecatory gesture. “My consciousness has never associated itself with this temporary body. Before I came on this earth, Father, ‘I was the same.’ As a little girl, ‘I was the same.’ I grew into womanhood, but still ‘I was the same.’ When the family in which I had been born made arrangements to have this body married, ‘I was the same.’ …
And, Father, in front of you now, ‘I am the same.’ Ever afterward, though the dance of creation change[s] around me in the hall of eternity, ‘I shall be the same.'”  …

The Mahabharata – Peter Brook

Peter Brook’s original 1985 stage play “The Mahabharata” was 9 hours long and toured around the world for four years. In 1989, it was reduced to under 6 hours for television.

Mahabharata {[“maha” means “big” or “great” in most Indian languages; “bharat” is what the contemporary nation of India calls itself, and can be translated as Great Epic of the Bharata Dynasty},  a legendary dynasty of northern India in the fabled kingdom of the Kurus, from which Vedic and Hindu rulers and peoples claim their descent. However it really is the story of all humankind.

The Mahabharata‘s main story concerns a great war on the battlefield Kurushetra (“field of the Kurus”) between two ancient clans, the Pandavas (“sons of Pandu”) and the Kauravas (“sons of Kurus”) – actually …

Happy Equinox!

Balance with Yin Yoga for Equinox

Equinox itself gives us a opportunity for balance. Yin and Yang are in perfect Harmony, and gives us the chance to feel centered and at home. It is an immense portal in Nature for us to feel the support for a sense of Being at Home in ourselves.

Yin and Yang are in harmony now. Like there are equal hours of sunlight in the day, as there is darkness in the night. While we have entered the Small Yang season of Spring, The Yang will grow to a maximum in our Summer.

The season of Wood or Spring helps our creativity, transformation and our growth as a human being. Internally or externally, or better said transformation on the inside of ourselves, or the manifestation of those changes in the material world. It …
