Turning the spark into a roaring flame

6th Mar, 2026 by Nigam Overington

There comes a moment, rare, electric, when something suddenly flares.

A spark!

A spark of recognition.

You suddenly see that you are not the story you have been telling yourself.
Not the roles.
Not the wounds.
Not the ambition.
Not the mask.

You are something far more vast, far more silent, far more alive.

This spark is precious. It does not visit everyone. Most people remain hypnotized by the drama of their own imagination, lost in thought, lost in identity, mistaking the outer noise for themselves.

But when this recognition dawns, even briefly, nothing is quite the same again.

The Journey begins there.

Guard that spark.
Nurture it.
Let it become a flame.

Yes! This spark of recognition is precious. It must not be wasted.

It has not come accidentally.
It is not a mood.
It is not a passing …

The Story Of Sumedha And Dipankara Buddha

24th Aug, 2025 by Nigam Overington

Gautam the Buddha knew Enlightenment will happen to everybody, to every being. You can go on delaying it, that is up to you. The moment you stop delaying, the moment you stop postponing, it is there. It has always been waiting for you to recognize it. God is fast asleep in the rocks. He is a little alert in the trees, a little more alert in the animals, and a little more alert in you.

In a Buddha God has come perfectly to absolute alertness.

But Gautam the Buddha did not always know this Truth. There were many life times when he lived in darkness, was ignorant, and suffered just like you and I.

There is a powerful story from the Buddhist Jātakas (the earlier lifetime stories of the Buddha before he was born Siddhārtha Gautama). It is so inspiring, …

Prelude To The Remarkable Story Of Bhikkhunī Isidāsī

11th Aug, 2025 by Nigam Overington

The night Gautama Siddharta, sat in deep meditation under the sacred Bodhi tree at Bodh Gaya, was a highly significant moment in spiritual history. As the night began, Siddhartha entered into a state of deep absorption known as dhyana. In Buddhist tradition, the events of the enlightenment night are commonly described in three “watches,” each lasting several hours. The first watch spanned from sunset until around midnight.

During this period, Siddhartha’s mind became luminous and unobstructed, capable of seeing realities far beyond the ordinary. He directed his concentrated awareness inward, toward the intricate threads of his own existence. What unfolded was a vision of astonishing scope: Siddhartha saw not just one or two but countless past lives, stretching back eons across the ocean of samsara, the cycle of birth and death.

He recalled with vivid detail the name, form, …

UNCOVERING THE GOLDEN BUDDHA WITHIN

UNCOVERING THE GOLDEN BUDDHA WITHIN

A MOST REMARKABLE STORY!

In the mid-50s, a monastery was to be relocated to make room for a new highway. The monks arranged for a crane to come and move a 10-foot-tall clay Buddha to its new location. When the crane started to lift the statue, it was much heavier than expected and it began to crack. Wanting to protect the Clay Buddha, the monks lowered it back down and decided to wait until the next day to bring more powerful equipment. It began to rain, so the monks lovingly covered the statue with tarps to keep the moisture away.

That night, the head monk took his torch and went out to make sure the Buddha was adequately covered. When the light of the torch shone into the crack of the clay, he saw a glimmer… a reflection of something …

A BUDDHA STORY TO INSPIRE

19th Jan, 2025 by Nigam Overington

On a hot day, summer – Buddha feels thirsty. He asks Ananda, “Ananda, I am sorry but you
will have to go back. Two or three miles back we have left a small stream of water, and I am
very thirsty: you go and bring water.”

Ananda said, “There is no need to feel sorry. This is my joy – to serve you in any way. You
rest under this saal tree, and I will go.”

He went back. He knew exactly where the stream was; they had just passed it. And when they
had passed by the side of the stream, it was crystal-clear – a mountain stream has a clarity of
its own. But when Ananda returned to take the water, two bullock carts had passed through
the stream, and the whole stream was muddy; all the mud …

THE LOSS OF THE DEEP UNDERSTANDING THAT HUMANS LIVED BY IN THE PALEOTHIC AND NEOLITHIC TIME.

17th Aug, 2024 by Nigam Overington

RUMINATIONS AT AVEBURY CIRCLE, ENGLAND.

I could not help but feel, while walking around Avebury Circle last week, the loss of the deep and natural intelligence that human beings lived by during the Neolithic Age more than 3000 years BC. There is so much evidence worldwide of this loss of understanding with ancient monolithic structures which are still standing. When one walks around them one feels so much wonder at the mystery’s that surrounds them. These structures took hundreds of years to complete, over several generations, indicating that the architects who planned them must have lived with a vision of time that was timeless, together with their understanding of the intricate movements of the stars and planets wheeling through our skies, much of this deep understanding has not even been regained to this modern day.

It has recently been discovered …
